Summary of Project
Wet scrubber is used commonly to remove harmful components that generate as a result of combustion of underground mining diesel equipment. It consists from inlet exhaust gases pipe with outlet inserted to beneath water surface. This stream of exhaust gas faces the liquid underneath generating bubbles in different sizes based on their velocities and locations. These air bubbles leave the water surface then the scrubber through gas outlet toward Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) with temperature and pollutants much lower and humidity much higher than inlet conditions. This high humidity reduces DPF life and increases maintenance cost. This project aims to experimentally and numerically investigate the heat and mass transfer mechanism in the wet scrubber to obtain its optimum performance.
