Summary of Project

The ability to store large amounts of information has revolutionised data collection in many fields. Acoustic data is information rich, and we can now collect and store a great deal of such data, but analysis and understanding lags behind collection of data. We will be examining pattern and process in frog and bird calls collected from a variety of sources for a variety of reasons to assess biodiversity in northern Australia.

Key Words

acoustic data; birds; frogs; patterns; environmental impacts

Would suit an applicant who

Is interested in data manipulation to discover patterns in frog and/or bird calling in relation to a variety of sources of variation: environmental disturbance, climate change, anthropogenic impacts, and/or to detect and better understand rare species.
