Candidature and Advisor Agreement

You must complete the HDR Candidate/Advisor Agreement within the first 6 weeks (full-time equivalent [FTE]) of candidature.

The aim of this agreement is for you and your advisory panel to establish clear communication and expectations to maintain a productive relationship throughout candidature. It is a living document that can be revisited as required and should be reviewed and updated where appropriate at each milestone.

As you fill in the agreement, have conversations with your advisory panel about each question. You should discuss:

• meeting arrangements, such as the frequency of meetings, who will be in attendance, whether they will take place in person or online

• how and when you’ll get feedback on your drafts

• any upcoming processes, such as fieldwork, ethics clearance, internships

• external agreements, such as funding agreements, confidentiality agreements

• potential internships

• intellectual property

• publication plan

• milestone plan

• use of generative AI
