Summary of Project

This study is aiming to analyze the link between acidity index of clean water as it gets acidified by entrainment of pollutant gases. It is an experimental study within the framework of conducting numerous measurements as a part of experiments. As a simplified preliminary attempt, it is considered that water is stationary and holds conventional atmospheric pressure, constant temperature and pollutant concentration. For simulating physical set-up to represent a coastal area where such phenomenon is supposedly taking place due to ship exhaust emissions, a laboratory prototype will have to be designed, modelled and manufactured in the course of this research. The data collected in laboratory has to consist of a variety of numerical values of pollutant concentration in air phase as well as pH measurements in water phase. Lastly, regression analysis shall be employed in search for a meaningful relation existing between polluting gasses in air and acidity index in water. Such an investigation is important in terms of providing better understanding of air and water interaction, to prospectively revise maritime legislations and to generate useful hints for environmental protections.

Key Words
