Getting Connected to Wireless

James Cook University provides wireless connectivity to its Students, Staff and visiting academics from other supported institutions through eduroam. It has never been easier to stay connected across all areas of our campuses and remote sites with your laptop or other portable device.

Eduroam Wireless Setup Guides

For instructions on how to configure your computer for the Eduroam Wireless Network choose your Operating System from the list below:

Windows |  Apple OSX |   iOS |  Android

Note: Due to the number of different possible configurations and limitations on certain operating systems we do not support connecting for Linux or PDA's to the eduroam wireless network. It may be that you are able to connect, but we will not be providing any support for these types of devices.

Quick Start Details:

SSID: eduroam

Security Type: WPA2-Enterprise

Encryption: AES

EAP Type: Protected EAP (PEAP)

Authentication Protocol: MS CHAP V2

Login & Password: Use your JCU email address and password.

Domain: Leave this Blank

James Cook University has over 2,500 Wireless Access Points to provide seamless wireless network coverage across all our campuses and remote sites. You will be able to stay connected no matter where you are!

JCU provides eduroam wireless support to JCU Staff and Students in the following ways:

Student Support

InfoHelp Staff and Rovers in the Townsville and Cairns Library Buildings are able to assist with configuring your personal laptop to connect to the JCU wireless network.

Staff Support

If you still require assistance with connecting to wireless on campus after following the setup guides linked above then contact the IT Help Desk for further support.
