My name is Ioana Bowden, and I am part of the Student Success team at James Cook University. I have a bachelor’s degree in science, as well as Master and PhD degrees, I understand the challenges of balancing study, work, and family life. Also, with English as a second language, I am aware of the additional difficulties faced by international students. I have extensive experience in teaching across multiple Colleges at JCU which provided me the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds. This also served to develop my interest in offering guidance and support to students, with a focus on wellbeing and success. I look forward to assisting you throughout your student journey, by providing access to resources and services and to help you complete your studies successfully. My current focus is Post Graduate support.

My name is Natalie, I am part of the Student Success Team at James Cook University. I’m based in Cairns at the Smithfield Nguma-bada campus. I support Nursing and Midwifery Students at Cairns, Mt Isa, and Mackay Campuses. Prior to joining the Student Success team at JCU, I worked for Education Queensland as a Teacher Aide for 4 years and in School Administration for 6 years. Working with students to achieve their goals has always been valuable to me. Being part of the Student Success Team allows me to continue supporting students to achieve success during their university studies. Hi! I’m Helen from the Student Success Team at James Cook University, based in Townsville on the Bebegu Yumba campus. My role is to support students in the College of Healthcare Sciences and to find the right support you may need. I’ve been working at JCU for over 10 years in roles that support students to achieve not only the requirements of their degree, but also helping with the challenges that students may face during university life. JCU has invaluable support systems available to students, whether it be study skills, health and wellbeing services to name a few. Hi! I’m Karlee from the Student Success Team at James Cook University. I’m based in Townsville on the Bebegu Yumba campus, and my role is to support students throughout their degree. Before making the move to student support in 2023, I spent almost 3 years in other roles around the University, so I understand the challenges and pressures many students face. I am passionate about helping students not only achieve their goals but also believe that building confidence and independence in students so they can self-navigate problems when they arise is the key to success. Hi, I’m Jackson, and I’m part of the Student Success Team at James Cook University. I’m based in Townsville and support Nursing and Midwifery students. I’ve studied Psychology at the University of Canberra and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Management here at JCU. Before joining the team, I worked as a behavioural therapist and environmental conservation research assistant, and I also volunteered as a Crisis Support Officer with Lifeline. Having recently been a student myself, I have a deep appreciation for the challenges students face.
