Assignment and subject results

Important information about your results.

If you are informally advised of change to a subject result/grade, please be aware that the process of updating a result is not instant, and can take up to 14 days for the official result to be updated in eStudent.

Final subject results

You can access your final subject results on eStudent under the ‘My Results and Graduation’ tab approximately three weeks after the end of each study period and trimester. Check result publication dates on the Academic Calendars.

If you have a debt with the University including library fines, student loans or fees, or if you did not show photo ID during an exam, your results will be withheld.

Assignment results

Marks for written assignments will be available via LearnJCU. Contact your lecturer if you cannot find your mark or would like to discuss your mark and assignment.

What if I disagree with a mark or my final subject result?

You have the right to request feedback on any assessment item (including examinations) within 10 University working days of the grade or mark being provided to you.  To request a review of an assessment item you must:

  • Check the stated assessment information in the Subject Outline; and
  • Email your Subject Coordinator to seek out and receive feedback about your performance for the assessment item.

If you cannot reach them, contact your College office or you can drop into the Peer Advice Desk on the ground floor of the library at JCU Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas and JCU Cairns, Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield. You can also seek support or advice from the JCU Student Association.

Final subject result

If you have genuine concerns about your subject result, it’s a good idea to first spend some time reviewing the Subject Outline. Check your understanding of the assessment requirements including what was to be assessed, the assessment methods, and the weighting/value of each assessment item.

If you want to discuss your result, you should contact the subject coordinator for feedback, this feedback may be used as the Stage 1 - informal review which is part of the Review and Appeal of Final Subject Result Procedure

After the informal review, and feedback from the subject coordinator has been received, you may continue with Stage 2 - Formal review within 5 University working days of receiving this feedback.

Before applying for a formal review, it’s a good idea to seek support or advice from the JCU Student Association.
