Assessment Grades and Final Subject Results

Assessments

Grades for assessments will be available via LearnJCU. Contact your Subject Coordinator if you cannot find your grade or would like to discuss your grade and assessment.

If you cannot reach your Subject Coordinator, contact your College office or you can drop into the Peer Advice Desk on the ground floor of the library at Townsville, Bebegu Yumba campus, Douglas and Cairns, Nguma-bada campus, Smithfield. You can also seek support or advice from the JCU Student Association.

What if I disagree with my assessment grade?

You have the right to request feedback on any assessment item (including examinations) within 10 University working days of the grade or mark being published in LearnJCU.  To request a review of an assessment item you should follow Section 3.8.3 of the Learning, Teaching and Assessment Procedure. Your first steps will be to:

  • Check the stated assessment information in the Subject Outline; and
  • Email your Subject Coordinator to seek out and receive feedback about your performance for the assessment item.

Final subject results

You can access your final subject results on eStudent under the ‘My Results and Graduation’ tab on the Result Publication Date for the subject’s study period. Check Result Publication Dates on the Academic Calendars.

If you have a sanction due to one of the following reasons your results will be withheld until the issue is resolved:

  • debt with the University including library fines, student loans or fees.
  • you did not show photo ID during an exam.
  • you have not completed the academic integrity and/or respect module.

What if I disagree with my final subject result?

If you have genuine concerns about your subject result, it’s a good idea to first spend some time reviewing the Subject Outline. Check your understanding of the assessment requirements including what was to be assessed, the assessment methods, and the weighting/value of each assessment item.

You should contact the subject coordinator for feedback within 5 University working days of the subject Result Publication Date. If the subject coordinator does not respond within 5 University working days of your request, or you are dissatisfied with the feedback you may consider requesting a formal review of the academic decision.

Before applying for a formal review, it’s a good idea to seek support or advice from the JCU Student Association. They will both guide you through the process and help you prepare your application.

Result Changes

Any changes to a subject result may take up to 10 University working days before visible in eStudent and on your academic record.
