Video Assessment

Students can record, edit, and submit media with Panopto

JCU's video capture platform, Panopto, allows students to record an individual (not group) media assignment. Media can be: video, audio, video/audio with slides, or video/audio with computer screen.

Using Panopto for an upcoming assessment

If you are interested in using Panopto for an upcoming assessment task, please get in touch. LTSE will work with you to set up the links and instructions to enable a user-friendly student experience in recording and submitting a media assignment.

The setup includes:

  • Instructions on how to use the recording facility
  • Instructions on how to submit
  • A submission area (dropbox)

Once the above is setup, students can:

  • Use the browser-based Panopto Capture to record their screen, PowerPoint, webcam, and audio
  • Use the web editor to do minor editing
  • Submit their recorded submission to the dropbox

Email videocapture@jcu.edu.au as early as possible to ensure timely and comprehensive preparation of the assessment task folder in your LearnJCU subject site; provide the following information:

  • Full subject code including campus and mode of study
  • Assessment task (e.g. Assessment Task 3 – Presentation)
  • Required recording duration
  • Due date and time (please ensure submission due date and time are in business hours so students can seek support if something goes wrong)
  • Attach the assessment task information from the subject outline
