Cultural details

You can advise JCU of the language you speak at home and tell us if you are of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent via eStudent.

You are required to check this information and confirm it is correct through the My Details tab. Students who can complete their enrolment online MUST do this before they will be able to enrol. If you have not already confirmed your details a warning message will display. You will need to follow the links to confirm your details.

To change your cultural details:

  • Click the Update button

  • Make changes to the Main Language you speak at home by selecting from the dropdown list
  • Make changes to your Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander status by selecting from the dropdown list
  • To save the new information onto your record click on the Save buttonScreenshot showing Main Language and Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander fields and the Save and Close buttons.
  • NOTE: A warning message displays if you have selected Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and you were born outside of Australia (refer to the screenshot below).

A requirement set by the Australian Government is that you need to periodically confirm your details.

If you receive the following message (see screenshot below):Screenshot showing the confirm your details warning message with links.Confirm your details by following the Confirm links in the warning box. After you have checked that the information is correct or made the required changes then select the Confirm button for each section. Once you have confirmed that all your required details are correct you will be able to enrol.

If you are unable to confirm all your details, please contact the IT HelpDesk to report the error. You also need to contact the Student Centre for assistance.
