Fanning River Area

Tuff

Fanning River south-west of Townsville is a tributary of the Burdekin River. In this area there are outcrops of the Fanning River group of limestones and Burdekin limestones of diverse lithologies. These outcrops support elements of dry rainforest. Also in the general area are the Big Bend arkoses, siltstones and mudstones, in fact the landscape geology is unusually varied.
