Description

This common skink, which is found in woodland and open forest, has 4 fingers and 5 toes per limb. The body is grey to brown with black and white flecks, the breeding male can be readily distinguished by a red stripe between the fore and hindlegs. Female and non-breeding males have a prominent white stripe along the flank. Lower eyelid is movable. This species was previously confused with Carlia pectoralis (Conrad Hoskin pers comm.)
