Description

A small sized species with males and females similar in appearance. The body is somewhat oval-shaped and laterally compressed, appearing almost transparent as it is silvery in colour often with a yellowish tinge; the edges of the scales are dark-coloured. There are two dorsal fins adjacent to one another, spines are present. Can be found in creeks and lagoons particularly in areas where there are aquatic plants present. Feeds mainly on small aquatic invertebrates.
