Dracaenaceae

Dracaena, from the Greek drakaina, a female dragon. Rhizomatous herbs or sometimes arborescent with tough leathery leaves. Leaves alternate, spiral or distichous. Flowers with perianth 3+3, fused into a tube at the base, and stamens 3+3. Carpels 3, ovary superior, 1 ovule per locule; fruit a berry.
