Description

This fungus is usually encountered in rainforest as a coarse black or dark brown hair-like structure, which is a rhizomorph formed from strands of mycelium. It is usually tangled around branches or in litter. The fruiting body is small and delicate, the cap is pale to 4 mm diameter, convex with radial folds; gills whitish, well-spaced. Stem slender and wiry, black to 10 cm long but usually much less.
