Distinguishing features

An erect clumping grass to 1 m tall; ligule a fringe of hairs. Inflorescence a solid panicle 7-20 cm long, pale or straw-coloured. Spikelets sessile with an involucres of bristles. Spikelets appear as though perpendicular to the inflorescence axis. Found from Tasmania to North Queensland and into western areas.
