Description

This excellent timber tree has prominent circular lenticels on twigs and branches. Leaves are alternate, compound with up to 17 leaflets, margins entire and a brownish or silvery sheen on the lower surface. Inflorescence a raceme with paired flowers, tepals 4, white. Fruit a large, 8-11 cm long, woody follicle usually held erect on the outside of the canopy. Seeds flat, winged, brown to 7 x 3 cm; seedlings with large butterfly-shaped cotyledons.
