Description

A tall tree, the smooth white trunk becomes salmon-coloured just prior to its annual shedding. Bark is shed in scales or sheet rather than long strips as in the true gums. Leaves have distinct intramarginal veins, and numerous oil dots which have a distinctive lemon scent when crushed. Flowers white, operculum hemispherical; capsule ovoid to urceolate 7-11 x 7-11 mm, may be roughened on the outside. There are several large trees in front of Biological Sciences.
