Description

This deciduous tree which under good conditions will grow to about 40 m is growing near DD14, roots can be aggressive; branches usually covered with corky projections. Leaves are alternate, with 3-5 lobes, palmately-veined, margins serrated; petiole is 6-8 cm long. Male flowers are in catkins, female flowers form dense spherical heads and the fruit is burr-like because of the persistent styles.
