Description

Initially these earth stars the fruiting body appears as a ball then it splits to give the star shape. The dirty-white fruiting body of this fungus is composed of two layers. A thick out layer which splits at maturity into about 5 lobes which expand to about 4 cm diameter and appear star-like. The inner layer is a darker colour and globular in shape with a circular pore at the top, inside is the brown spore mass. Usually found growing amongst leaf litter.
