Distinguishing features

Stolons present, leaf blades to 15 cm long and 2-5 mm wide. Inflorescence an open panicle to 10 cm long, branches stiff. Spikelets paired, needle-like callus present at base, 3-10 mm long bears golden hairs. Fertile spikelet with an apical awn 3.5-7 mm long.
