Cleomaceae

Cleome, from the Greek kleio, is sometimes included in the Capparaceae. Annual or perennial herbs, often glandular-pubescent; leaves alternate, compound with 3-7 leaflets. Flowers 4-merous with distinct calyx and corolla, petals sometimes with a claw; staminal filaments fused at base with each other or to the gynophore if present. Fruit a capsule.
