Moraceae

Morus, from the Latin morus mulberry. Trees, shrubs, herbs and vines all with latex or coloured sap; leaves alternate, rarely opposite, simple, apical bud is covered by 2 usually prominent caducous stipules which fall off leaving a scar. Flowers are unisexual, ovary usually 1-locular with 2 stigmas. Fruit usually fleshy, usually compound often enclosed in the fleshy receptacle, in figs the ‘syconium’.
