Description

This species is often found growing in rocky areas as a sprawling shrub but in sheltered areas it is sometimes found as a tree to 15 m tall. This is the form on the Townsville campus. The opposite leaves are obovate to elliptical to 14 x 7 c, thick, leathery and glossy crenate margins. Separate male and female plants with small whitish flowers. Fruits are black, fleshy with a stony endocarp, and up to 2 cm long with 1-3 seeds per fruit.
